Making peace with my past to embrace my future.

I spent years trying to figure out why I was experiencing chronic fatigue and anxiety even though I kept a low-key schedule. Many different doctors later, I found a compassionate doctor that looked past the typical motherhood struggles as an excuse for the way I was feeling and gave me an enlightening diagnosis. This collection turned into the journey of revealing my liberated self.

Each mark, brushstroke, or color chosen was made while I remembered vivid memories of younger Jaylin. I analyzed the labels I identified as gifted-child, people pleaser, sensitive, and perfectionist. I comforted the inner child that lived silently with heaps of shame, struggles, and inadequacy for fear of rejection. Each identity provoked a lifetime of heavy and light emotions within – the repressed emotions.

Connecting the dots is the start of the healing process from an ADHD diagnosis. It isn’t an excuse, it's an explanation – an explanation that has started to lift the weight of the broken, awkward, or lacking person I identified as. I'm thankful to have found the solace my soul craved in an overstimulating world through the diagnosis and expressing the deep-seated emotions tied to it with the help of this collection.
